4 REASONS TO JOIN A SMALL GROUP
-Small Groups are not only a great way to meet more people at Newsong LA, but also a great way to find support and friendship. Here's four reasons why it is great to be apart of a Small Group. Some of them might even surprise you.
Relational Connectedness
On Sundays, you will no longer feel like a stranger in the crowd at Newsong. You’ll feel connected in spite of the large number of strangers around you. Even though some people might have enjoyed remaining anonymous during Sunday services after their first few months at Newsong, without exception, they eventually feel disconnected and alone. However, building relationships in a small group is one of the first steps to making the faces recognizable! Many people who joined a small group have consistently shared that they feel connected even with the whole church. By the way, small group people tend to sit together during services like a family—we see this all the time.
Mutual Support
Your small group will be a great support for your journey of life. Your small group can become like family—a “home” away from home. As you build relationships in your small group, you’ll find that you won’t want to stand alone any longer. As a matter of fact, many people involved in small groups are sharing their lives with each other and going through the ups and downs of their lives together. The people in their small groups are the ones that they seek after first, in times of celebration and in need.
Spiritual Growth
You will be challenged to grow spiritually in a small group. Because of the nature of a small group, you will probably receive encouragement and challenges by group members. This is a great place to put yourself. It is within this face-to-face context that you can be sharpened spiritually (“as iron sharpens iron”), as well as receive constant encouragement for your spiritual growth. We have seen many lives changed through small group experiences!
Serving Others
You will be able to make a difference in others’ lives. When we merely receive from others, we can enjoy only half of what Christian life can offer. Christian life can be much fuller only when one begins to use his or her spiritual gifts (God-given strengths) to serve God and others. When you simply respond to real needs of real people in your small group, you can make a difference in their lives by showing how God has uniquely shaped you.
